Erik Hoffner’s work is most often exhibited at the Vermont Center for Photography, including a recent solo show for a project on heritage breeds of farm animals in Poland. His work also appears in Orion, The Sun, and Northern Woodlands. He recently went to Sweden on assignment for Yale Environment 360, and have done other foreign assignments for Earth Island Journal and Heifer Project International’s member magazine, World Ark.
When not on assignment, he works with some of the best authors and photographers in the world in his role at Orion magazine, which has won the Independent Press Award for General Excellence twice and has been nominated for a National Magazine Award.
Besides being a contributing writer for Grist.org, America’s biggest green news site, he is also on the editorial board of Terrain.org: A Journal of the Built and Natural Environments.
Erik serves on three boards: a consumer-owned renewable energy cooperative called Co-op Power, Northeast Biodiesel LLC, and the nonprofit Recycled Fish, which advances an ethic of stewardship among anglers. Erik live in Ashfield, MA with his beautiful musician wife Jenny Goodspeed and occasional photo subject Seamus.
